About Abdule Yousuf

I wrote my first line of code in 2018. It was rubbish, and I loved it. For the next six years I was a software engineer, building and shipping things end to end across many companies, and the habit of building never left me.

In 2024 I switched tracks. I started learning machine learning and deep learning properly, and what pulled me in has never let go: the brain and the machine, two systems trying to understand the world, and the strange places where they mirror each other. These days my focus is mostly NLP, especially for underserved languages, the ones the big models keep forgetting.

Every new boom reaches Africa late. That's a reality, not a complaint. Instead of waiting, in 2025 I co-founded Cassivelle, an AI company built in the Horn of Africa. We train custom models and engineer specialized agents, deployed into parliaments, ministries, classrooms and hospitals. Real work, not demos. Under the hood there's a steady stream of research and projects, and that's where I contribute most. Much of what you'll see in the research section grows out of that work, as we move toward publishing solutions for Africa's AI development.

I also lead Ardaykaab Academy, an education academy giving Somaliland's youth practical tech skills, and I'm pursuing my Master's in Artificial Intelligence at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

When I'm not in the work, I'm usually in the past. I read history for pleasure: how people used to live, what they built with what they had. It keeps the new things honest. Every boom looks smaller, and more human, when you know the ones that came before it.

I made this space because I think researchers should show how they work, not just what survived review. The finished result is the last 5%. The reading, the dead ends and the half-formed ideas are the actual work. So this site holds all of it: research as it happens, a close look at whatever's on my mind in Dhugasho, concepts I explain in writing and video, and the books shaping my thinking.

If any of it is useful to you, or you see something differently, write to me. That's what it's for.
